ABOUT

The “Pearl of the Atlantic” as the island of Madeira is also known, has been one of our annual Swimrun destinations since 2017. Its privileged geographical position and its mountainous orography give the island of Madeira an amazing climatic amenity, with very mild average temperatures, ranging between 25°C in summer and 17°C in winter, combined with moderate humidity.

Under the influence of the warm current of the Gulf of Mexico, the sea water is also very temperate, with averages of 22°C in the summer and 18°C in the winter, thus contributing to the practice of adventure and nature sports practically throughout the entire year. year.

This is without a doubt one of the best challenges in Swimrun mode. As for the route, participants are dropped off by sea off Ponta de São Lourenço, an idyllic place and one of the biggest attractions on the island of Madeira, following Caniçal to the city of Machico, crossing a variety of challenging trails such as the climbing Pico do Facho and challenging the sea conditions on the different crossings of Prainha and Ribeira do Natal.

The local organization of this stage is in charge of the Ludens Machico club, with the support of the Regional Triathlon Association of Madeira, which from the very beginning recognized the potential and innovative character of our modality, encouraging the participation of the largest number of local athletes and foreigners
